'Space' in focus at VDA-Aerospace Member Briefing 2019

On 5th September, the Victorian Defence Alliance held a members' briefing for VDA-Aerospace Members, which included an impressive host of speakers presenting on the future of Australian Space Industry.

Rod Drury gave us his view of the future of the sector as Chair of the Space Industry Association of Australia, including the technology areas of potential growth if industry is willing to take up the challenge. He then touched on the work Lockheed Martin Space is doing here in Australia and where it is heading.

This was followed by Colin Campbell, who provided an excellent SME's view of the space sector as a growth opportunity and provided some really valuable insight into the hurdles AFT had to overcome to succeed as both an Aerospace and Space supplier.

Dr Rebecca Allen rounded off the presentations with an update on Swinburne University and their role in ensuring we have a generation of students willing and able to support the space industry in the future. She has also invited members to tell her what their requirements are for their own education into the space industry and also what they need from the future workforce.
